Best for Small Businesses

Overall rating

Weebly is the best builder for small business sites and portfolios. It's easy to use and comes packed with apps and features to help grow your site, from SEO to ecommerce. You can build a simple, stylish site with Weebly's drag-and-drop editor, and it's a great choice for portfolios, blogs, online stores, and business sites.

What Are Weebly's Pros and Cons?

Weebly Pros

  • Best website builder for small businesses, with all the basic tools you need to build a great business site – or even an online store
  • Cool customizable templates – all Weebly's themes are simple, stylish, and mobile responsive, and you can even switch between them
  • Really helpful SEO guides in Weebly's help and support center, for advice on coding, keyword optimization, and tips on boosting your site's ranking.

Weebly Cons

  • Drag-and-drop customization is limited – unless you're confident with code (and feel comfortable using the Weebly Code Editor), you might find Weebly frustrating in its lack of creative freedom.
  • No personal restore option, so if your site goes down you're totally reliant on the Weebly support team to restore your site for you.
  • No ADI option – Artificial Design Intelligence (ADI) is where a website builder uses information you provide to automatically create a site for you, saving you time. With Weebly, you have to create your site manually.

Overview of Weebly

Weebly powers over 50 million websites worldwide, but what makes it so popular? Well, it's an easy to use website builder that's perfect for small business and portfolio websites. It's one of the best website builders out there, and we should know – we've tested over 50 of them! Check out how it scored in our testing below:

weebly_logotype

Best for Small Businesses

We test every website builder we review here at Website Builder Expert, so that we can bring you the most accurate results and recommendations possible. After carrying out in-depth research, using the builder ourselves and asking non-techy people to test it too, we give each builder a score out of five for the most important categories.

Here's a helpful guide to what our star ratings mean:

star rating explanation graphic

Overall, Weebly scored 4.1 stars out of 5, placing in third position behind Wix and Squarespace in our overall rankings. Weebly's standout strength is its features – it came top in this category due to its large range of useful built-in tools, and its extensive App Store.

Weebly also scored highly for value for money, with a generous free plan and affordable prices on its premium plans.

One of the key things to note when introducing Weebly is that it was acquired by payment company Square back in 2018. This has seen Weebly adopt a stronger ecommerce focus and, unsurprisingly, seamless integrations with Square.

We enjoyed using Weebly's drag-and-drop editor because it's super simple and easy to use, meaning you don't have to use a single line of code if you don't want to! For those who do want to, however, Weebly has a built-in coding editor to let you customize your site even further.

The way Weebly caters to users of all abilities pretty much sums up its whole attitude towards building websites – anyone can build a Weebly website, and once you've got to grips with the basics, you can grow your website using Weebly's features, apps, and guides.

From SEO to blogging and ecommerce, Weebly has the features you need to create functional websites without spending too much time or money. It's not the most flashy, fancy, or powerful builder on the market, but it gets the job done.

Who Is Weebly Best For?

Weebly is best for small businesses, because it equips you with all the tools you need to get a business website off the ground. Its straightforward editor cuts out the hassle of building your site – meaning you can get online sooner – and its huge app store means you can customize your site with all the tools you need.

It's also a good choice for personal portfolios, because of its simple, stylish themes. If you want a portfolio that looks good without you having to worry over the design too much, Weebly is perfect.

We don't recommend Weebly if you want a lot of customization control over your website. Wix provides tons more creative freedom, and Squarespace has much more professional designs than Weebly – chances are you'll find Weebly limiting if you're after anything too advanced.

In our Weebly review, we'll be walking you through each of the areas we tested – including Weebly's ease of use, designs, pricing, and features – to help you decide if it's the right website builder for you!

Is Weebly Easy to Use?

Quick Look: Yes, Weebly is easy to use! It's a drag-and-drop website builder where you build your site exactly as you'd see it on-screen – instead of dealing with abstract lines of code, you drag actual images, text boxes, buttons, and more around your page until you're happy.

Weebly scored 3.5 stars out of 5 for ease of use in our testing. It's not quite as easy to use as Weebly's top competitor Wix, due to user frustrations over limited customization. But for beginners looking for an easy start, Weebly is a solid choice.

Weebly is a "what you see is what you get" website builder, meaning you build your page exactly as you'd see it online. No skipping between a backend and a front-end, or having to edit raw code just to move an image.

weebly review drag and drop editor

Weebly's editor is easy to get to grips with, and you don't need any coding skills to get started!

With Weebly's drag-and-drop editor, you simply use your mouse to move elements such as text boxes, forms, buttons, and images around your page. This makes building your website super easy – if you've ever made a Powerpoint presentation, you can build a Weebly website!

weebly review customization edit text

To edit text, simply click and start typing! Moving and adding text boxes is easy – you simply drag it using your mouse to where you want it on the page.

That said, Weebly couldn't quite keep up with Wix in our ease of use testing. You see, most website builders on the market use this drag-and-drop technology, so what really sets them apart is how intuitive each builder's editor is.

In the end, Weebly only scored 3.5 out of 5 stars in our ease of use testing. It's beginner-friendly and straightforward, but it could be easier still.

Where Weebly fell down in our ease of use testing was in its customizability. People found the basics on Weebly super simple – but when it came to making their website look exactly how they wanted, they ran into difficulty. We'll go into more detail on this in the themes section of this Weebly review!

On the whole, though, Weebly is a straightforward and uncomplicated builder. Once you've learned your way around, you'll be creating websites quickly and easily – especially if you don't need to push the boundaries of Weebly's templates too far.

Customer Satisfaction

Okay, so we keep talking about our user testing and research – we're pretty proud of it, because we go the extra mile compared to a lot of other reviews sites. But what exactly did our users have to say about Weebly?

Despite its fairly average ease of use score, our users were overall pretty happy with Weebly – it received a customer score of 4.6 out of 5, which is impressive!

Here are just some of the things people said after using Weebly for themselves – including the good, the bad, and the helpful!

This first user enjoyed how beginner-friendly Weebly's editor was:

"The editing screen is laid out quite nicely. It's a good introductory-level web builder."

Another commented on how Weebly's many features are easy to integrate into your site:

"It was fairly straightforward to add things you had the app store that was easy to go into, so you just had to type in what you wanted and pull it into your site. Similar with the features, they were all really easy it was a drag-and-drop motion to move it onto the page, and then the editing of text was also fairly straightforward."

However, Weebly isn't for everyone – and that's okay!

"The editing I didn't like. I liked the amount of features and apps it gave you, but in terms of editing, I wasn't overly impressed."

Finally, this user recommended taking the time to explore Weebly before jumping straight into building – which we thought was great advice!

"It certainly took a bit of playing around and sussing out where everything was. I think if I was to do it again, I would have been better placed to not try and do anything for the first 5-10 minutes, and just look and scroll and click on everything."

The one thing we can't tell you about Weebly is whether or not you'll enjoy using it for yourself – that depends on your own preferences. The only way to find out is to try it out yourself. You can do this at any time by jumping on Weebly's free plan – you don't even need payment details, just an email, to sign up.

What Kind of Website Can You Make With Weebly?

Quick Look: Weebly has such a wide range of tools that it can be used by bloggers, businesses, online sellers, and artists. However, it's best for small business websites – its scalable tools, SEO support, and simple designs combine to make it a winner for entrepreneurs, freelancers, and other types of small business websites looking for online growth.

Weebly has a huge app store, and like many website builders out there, it also comes packed with built-in features to help you build and grow the website of your dreams. However, Weebly also has strengths and weaknesses that make it a better fit for some users than others. Let's take a look at who Weebly is best for, to help you make the right decision.

Business

Business websites are right at home with Weebly – in fact, businesses are Weebly's main target audience. Visit Weebly's website, and you'll see a lot of messaging focused on helping businesses get started, grow online, find customers, and sell products.

weebly review online business
Weebly caters to online business websites with a range of helpful features, from SEO to ecommerce.

There's a reason for this, namely that Weebly's features are perfect for starting and scaling businesses:

  • Business-specific themes
  • Strong SEO tools and support
  • Ecommerce tools on all plans (yep, even the free plan!)
  • Marketing tools such as blogging and newsletters
  • Analytics to provide insights on your performance and visitor interactions

On top of this awesome list of business features, Weebly also has seamless integrations with Square's payment suite – making it easier than ever for pop-up shops, brick and mortar stores, and ecommerce websites to start selling online.

Ecommerce

Many of Weebly's business features also make it a sensible choice for small online stores. Strong SEO and marketing tools are still vital, and your theme will be optimized for ecommerce.

When you select "online store" during the building process, you get directed to your own ecommerce dashboard – from there you select a theme, customize your design, add products, manage payments, and more.

However, Weebly's new online store builder is pretty limited, so if you want a custom-branded storefront, you're better off with Wix or Shopify.

weebly review ecommerce dashboard

Weebly makes it easy to manage your online store from one place – your ecommerce dashboard lets you add products, view orders, and design your storefront.

We recommend Weebly for new sellers looking to start a small store, rather than large ecommerce businesses. If you're serious about selling online, you'll need a better ecommerce builder, such as Shopify, BigCommerce, or even Wix.

One of the biggest perks for new sellers in the US is that Weebly is one of the only builders we've reviewed that lets you sell for free .

That's right – you can make money off Weebly's free plan! Pretty generous, right? The only drawback is that it's only available to sellers in the US, and you can only accept payments using Square.

With scalable tools and built-in Square integrations, Weebly is perfect for both new and existing small stores who want to make money online.

Do You Want to Make Money Online?

Whether you already have a brick and mortar store, or you're new to ecommerce, Weebly's a great place to start.

Personal and Portfolio

Weebly has a lot to offer personal projects, too. Although Weebly's designs aren't the most flashy on the market, they are clean, simple, and stylish – perfect for creating a website without hassle or headaches.

Good to know… If you want a truly stunning website, or a professional portfolio, Squarespace is a better fit – it's the best website builder for portfolios that we've tested, with award-winning designs and impressive features. In comparison, Weebly is a more affordable option for personal portfolios.

Here just some of the features that make Weebly a popular choice for personal and portfolio sites:

  • Built-in image editor
  • Parallax and reveal animation effects
  • Custom fonts
  • Video backgrounds
  • Newsletters
  • Social media marketing

Weebly comes with a ton of features to help you create a visually pleasing and professional website for your personal portfolio, project, or resume.

Weebly is best if you want to focus on your work, rather than on perfecting your site's design. If you want creative freedom then you're better off with Wix or Squarespace, but overall, Weebly is a solid choice for personal websites.

Blogging

While Weebly's ecommerce game has only recently improved, its blogging features have always been rock solid. In fact, Weebly scored an impressive 4.5 out of 5 stars for blogging in our research!

Good to know… Weebly is a solid and affordable blogging choice, but it's not the best blogging platform on the market. That title goes to WordPress.org, an open source platform that powers over a third of all websites on the internet!

Whether you're looking to start a blogging website, or you just want to run a small blog alongside your store or business, Weebly has an awesome set of blogging tools to keep you and your readers happy. These include:

  • Blog-specific themes
  • RSS and social sharing features automatically built-in
  • Scheduled sharing across Facebook and Twitter
  • Media integrations in your blog dashboard and app store
  • Category, tag, and sidebar customizations
  • Advanced comment management

Weebly's blog-specific features make starting and running a blog both easy and effective.

You also get strong blog SEO options, such as adding custom header and footer code to your pages, as well as custom URLs, title tags, and meta descriptions. Weebly makes it easy to create attractive but powerful blog content, and then share it with your readers.

Weebly is a quick, easy, and affordable way to get your blog off the ground and onto people's screens.

Scalability

Is Weebly scalable? The short answer is, yes it is! It has the best tools for scaling a website, with tons of built-in features and even more available in the Weebly App Center. You can start off small, and grow at your own pace.

The fact you can further customize your website using code is a huge bonus for Weebly, as it means you can grow your site as your own skillset and confidence grows too.

However, we wouldn't say Weebly is ideal for very large online stores. If you're serious about selling online, then a dedicated ecommerce builder like Shopify or BigCommerce is a better fit.

How Good Are Weebly's Themes?

Quick Look: Weebly's themes are pretty good. They're not the most stunning designs on the block, but they're clean and simple, and you can switch themes any time you like. You won't get total creative freedom, so if you're looking for something with a bit of structure to guide your website design, Weebly is a great choice.

Weebly doesn't have the biggest range of themes – there are around 40 to choose from in total – but the ones it does have are attractive and well-designed. Every single one is mobile responsive, meaning they'll look awesome no matter which device they're viewed on, which is vital seeing as mobile accounts for around half of web traffic worldwide!

So, just what exactly do Weebly's themes look like? Will they help you create a stylish website? The short answer is yes! Weebly's themes aren't the most dazzling or modern on the market, but they do feature a range of styles, favoring grid layouts and full-screen image backgrounds for a clean and visually pleasing design.

weebly review themes
Weebly's themes come in a range of styles and categories, and they're all mobile responsive.

Another huge win for Weebly's themes is that you can switch your theme any time you like – even after you've published your site! This is perfect for redesigns, or if you change your mind and want to shake up your site's aesthetic.

Good to know… Although Weebly scored 4.5 stars for design flexibility, its themes can't compete with those of Squarespace. Weebly's designs just aren't as polished or impressive – if you want a truly beautiful website, you're better off checking out Squarespace's award-winning templates instead.

All Weebly's themes are free, but if you have space in your budget, you might consider buying a Weebly theme built by a developer if you want something a little more special.

Weebly's themes are split into categories to help you find the best design for your site. You can get an overview of these categories and their themes below, or read on to find out how customizable Weebly's themes are.

There are 15 themes in the online store category. These themes vary between full-page designs and more grid-like layouts. They come with product pages built-in, and usually feature a call to action on the homepage.

weebly review online store themes

On the whole, Weebly's business themes feature large background images and banners, creating a modern feel. Some have calls to action above the fold, which lend themselves to a more commercial website. There are 14 business themes in total.

weebly review business themes

Weebly's seven portfolio designs favor full-screen background images, making them a great choice if you have high quality photos or graphics to show off.

weebly review portfolio themes

You'll find some crossover from the portfolio category here, but Weebly's seven personal themes have more of a focus on resumes. Helpful features include a "contact me" button on the homepage, for example.

Weebly's six event themes often feature big, bold headings, and some also include a helpful "RSVP" button on the homepage.

weebly events themes

This is probably Weebly's most diverse category, ranging from creative designs to more functional, minimal, or text-based layouts. Featured categories and "read more" buttons are just two things you can expect to see across Weebly's eight blog themes.

Did You Spot Something You Liked?

Weebly may not have hundreds of themes to choose from, but its designs are stylish and modern. Did you spot your favorite?

How Customizable Are Weebly's Themes?

Okay, so Weebly's themes tick the basic boxes – they look good, they're all free and responsive, and there's a variety of different designs to choose from. You can even switch themes at any time. There's one more important box left to check off, though, and that's customizability.

You want to make your website unique and stand out from the crowd – you might even want to change the design of your theme to do this. This is where Weebly makes it super easy to edit your website, but offers less creative freedom than other builders, such as Wix.

Weebly's themes are more structured – you can't simply drag anything anywhere you like. This is a positive if you're nervous about designing your site, because it acts as a guide for your page layout. But, if you want total control over your website, Wix is a better choice.

weebly review editor add gallery

Weebly makes it easy to add new sections to your site, such as galleries or contact forms, without any tech skills.

If you're after total creative control, then Weebly's structured themes may become frustrating as you try to customize your site exactly how you want.

For example, when changing your color scheme, you only have a few color options to choose from in the sidebar, and it only applies to areas such as buttons and menus:

weebly review color customization 1

weebly review customization color 2

You can manually edit the color of other blocks, but not buttons – this can take a while to get used to, but it's intended to help create a more consistent design across your website.

Having pointed out Weebly's somewhat limited customization, it's only right to also highlight Weebly's standout strength when it comes to editing your website. This is that Weebly actually lets you use code to edit your theme.

This means that if you're comfortable coding, you get greater control over your site's design, and can take customization to the next level!

Even if you can't code, though, you'll find it easy to:

  • Add apps
  • Upload your own images
  • Change text
  • Tweak the color scheme
  • Add buttons, vidoes, image galleries, and more
  • Create new pages
  • Change fonts

All you have to do is drag and drop the elements from the left-hand sidebar onto your page, and hey presto! You're building your very own site without any tech skills needed.

What Are Weebly's Key Tools and Features?

Quick Look: Weebly wowed us with its super scalable features. It has a huge app center, helpful SEO guides, strong blogging tools, and a solid suite of ecommerce features. On top of that, you've got 24/7 support, marketing and analytics tools, and built-in site security.

Weebly's designs are decent, but where it really shines is its scalable set of features, which you can use to build and then grow your website. It came out top for features in our research, scoring 4.2 stars out of 5! There are far too many features to list them all here, so we've picked out the most important ones.

App Center

Weebly has an impressive app center where you can find both free and paid apps, which you can install with just one click and integrate with your own website.

You get all the basic features built into your Weebly editor, such as text blocks and image galleries, but the Weebly App Center is perfect for adding more advanced tools and features to your website – such as FAQ sections or "Back to Top" buttons.

Apps are sorted into the following categories:

  • Ecommerce
  • Communication
  • Marketing
  • Social
  • Site tools and features
weebly review app center
Weebly makes it easy to browse its App Center, which is good news considering how many apps there are to choose from!

This is useful for finding the app you're looking for, as there's hundreds to choose from in total. Useful apps include pricing tables, accordion tabs, an Instagram feed, and Facebook Like buttons. You can even integrate Facebook Messenger into your website so you can chat with your visitors!

weebly review popular apps
Weebly's popular apps include a Facebook Like app, accordions, and an Instagram feed feature.

The reason Weebly's App Center is so important is that it lets you customize and expand your website without needing to code. You can add any of these apps with a single click, making it easy to pick and install any extra features you need for your unique project.

Some apps are free, while others require a monthly subscription – paid apps vary in price, but usually cost around $10 to $30 per month. That said, there are 56 free apps in the Weebly App Center right now, so there are plenty to choose from that won't cost you a cent!

SEO

Search Engine Optimization is the art of trying to boost your website's ranking in search engine results. 93% of online experiences begin with a search engine – so good SEO is vital if you want to grow your online presence!

Website builders have often got a bad rep for SEO in the past, and it's true that some website builders still let the side down. However, you don't need to worry about that with Weebly, as it's always had a strong set of SEO tools.

You can tick off all the basics with Weebly – it received top marks for its SEO tools in our research! All Weebly sites come with:

  • A sitemap
  • SEO-friendly HTML formatting
  • Meta descriptions
  • Responsive design

You can also edit your meta titles and descriptions, customize URLs, and benefit from more advanced SEO features, including adding alt text to images and page-specific descriptions.

If you're new to SEO, don't worry! Weebly has a truly awesome Ultimate SEO Guide to walk you through optimizing your website from start to finish. From carrying out keyword research to analyzing your site's performance, Weebly's guide covers it all!

You can install Google Analytics to your site to make it easier to monitor how well your site is doing. Weebly also has its own built-in website statistics tracker called Insights, which gives you real-time statistics on your site's data and traffic patterns.

All-in-all, Weebly has one of the strongest SEO offerings of any website builder we've tested!

Ecommerce

Weebly has grown its ecommerce focus recently, after being acquired by payment company Square. You can now sell on the free plan, which has a modest suite of ecommerce tools. These include:

  • Shopping Cart
  • Items
  • Quick Shop
  • Inventory management
  • In-store pickup

However, as always, we recommend upgrading to a paid plan for a more professional store – on more advanced plans, you unlock better ecommerce tools, such as item reviews and the ability to accept payments through PayPal.

Weebly is good for small online stores. For serious sellers, we recommend a builder like Shopify or BigCommerce, as Weebly's features are designed for smaller-scale selling.

Marketing: Weebly Promote

Marketing is a huge part of growing and succeeding online. There are plenty of marketing apps in Weebly's App Center – for example, you can add an Instagram feed, create popups, or run Google Ads campaigns using apps found in the Marketing category of the Weebly App Center.

One of the biggest marketing methods is email marketing, which is where Weebly Promote comes in. This is Weebly's own newsletter tool, which aims to make email marketing as easy and effective as possible for Weebly users.

Weebly Promote syncs automatically with your Weebly website, comes with ready-made layouts for you to customize using drag-and-drop, makes it easy to import contacts, and gives you reports showing how many people have opened or clicked on your emails.

If email marketing is one of your main marketing tactics, then Weebly Promote is definitely worth checking out. You can try Weebly Promote for free, and then there are three paid plans:

  • Build plan: $8 per month – you get a lead capture form, and can send five emails per month
  • Grow plan: $25 per month – you get everything from the Build plan, and can send 20 email per month, schedule emails, and automate emails
  • Accelerate plan: $75 per month – you get everything from the cheaper plans, but you can send unlimited emails per month

Weebly Promote has a range of price plans and a free trial, catering to different types of marketing needs.

Help and Support

What happens if you get stuck while building your site? The good news is, Weebly has a ton of guides in its Support Center to walk you through any common questions, and you can email Weebly support 24/7.

All plans include access to Weebly's community forum and email support. However, you won't get access to phone support unless you're on the more expensive Pro or Performance plans, and you have to be in the US to get live chat or phone support.

It's a shame that those on cheaper plans don't get access to all of Weebly's support channels. Perhaps because of this, Weebly scored a fairly uninspiring 3.5 stars out of 5 for its customer support in our research.

Weebly's live chat is available from Monday to Friday, 6am-6pm Pacific Standard Time (PST), and Saturday to Sunday 8am-5pm PST.

weebly review help center
Weebly has a Help Center that's available to all users, no matter which plan you choose.

Phone support is available with the Pro and Performance plans. Call 1-844-493-3259 from 6am-6pm PST.

Alternatively, try posting a question on Weebly's Facebook page, or contact the team via Twitter.

Hosting and Security

Weebly hosts your website for you, so you don't need to worry about finding or paying for hosting separately – it's all included in your Weebly plan.

The same goes for security. Although it's always worth implementing extra security measures just in case, Weebly protects its websites from DDoS attacks, providing advanced cyber attack protection.

You can also automatically activate an SSL certificate for your site, which encrypts any data (such as passwords and payment details) passing between you and your visitors.

How Much Does Weebly Cost?

Quick Look: Weebly has a free plan, and four paid plans ranging from $6 to $29 per month. It's one of the more affordable website builders on the market, although we don't recommend its cheapest plan too highly – instead, we recommend skipping it and heading straight for the $12 per month Pro plan, as it offers much better value for money.

Overall, Weebly scored 4.1 out of 5 stars for value for money in our research.

The first thing to know about Weebly is that it has a free plan. It's 100% free to build, publish, and even sell with Weebly – there's no time limit, and no hidden costs to catch you out. The free plan is perfect for trying out Weebly to see if it's the right web builder for you, or saving money while you get your site ready to publish.

However, we don't recommend staying on Weebly's free plan. Why? Well, you'll have adverts displayed on your site, you only have limited features (such as 500MB storage), and you can't use a custom domain.

Those are three big drawbacks, which make it sensible to upgrade to a paid plan if you're planning on anybody else seeing your website.

Weebly has three paid plans , ranging from $6 to $29 per month:

  • Personal plan: $6 per month
  • Professional plan: $12 per month
  • Performance plan: $26 per month
weebly review pricing plans
Weebly has four plans in total – one free plan, then three paid plans. This makes it easier to grow your site while sticking to your own pace and budget.

The $6 per month Personal plan is pretty similar to the free plan in terms of the features you get, except that it lets you connect a custom domain. We don't recommend this plan, because it doesn't offer great value for money.

The $12 per month Professional plan is best for any portfolio, small business, or blog that needs to make a good impression. Why? Because it's the cheapest plan that removes Weebly adverts from your website. On top of that, you also unlock unlimited storage, plus a free domain!

The $26 per month Performance plan is ideal for growing businesses, or any online store looking to boost sales – you get access to more advanced ecommerce tools, such as shipping labels and abandoned cart emails.

Just watch out for monthly versus annual plans. Weebly displays its prices per month, billed annually. This is because signing up for an annual plan saves you money – but it can be a nasty shock at checkout to find you have to pay for the year upfront!

The good news is, you can pay monthly if you want more flexibility, but this will cost more per month – check out the table below for a comparison of monthly versus annual prices.

You could save anywhere between 10% to 33%, depending on which plan you subscribe to and the length of your subscription. The longer you commit, the more significant the discount:

As you can see, there's a lot to be gained from committing to a year plan!

Weebly Review: Summary

After giving it a thorough test, we can confidently say Weebly is the best website builder for small businesses on the market right now. It's uncluttered, simplistic, and relatively easy to navigate, so you won't feel overwhelmed.

It may have come out of our testing with a lower ease of use score than Wix, but once you've got used to the platform, it becomes a breeze.

Weebly offers you the option to fine-tune your site using HTML and CSS, and even export it for editing elsewhere, meaning it isn't only for beginners. It also offers numerous subscription levels, including ecommerce plans.

To get the best out of Weebly, we recommend that you start with a free website. This is your chance to get to know the editing interface, and judge for yourself how easy (and difficult) its various features are.

Once you're ready to upgrade, we recommend skipping the Personal plan – you get more for your money on the Professional plan!

Overall, we recommend Weebly – especially if you're starting a small business or portfolio website. It's suitable for total beginners and those who are comfortable coding, and with its generous ecommerce features, Weebly has proved itself a diverse and solid web builder.

If Weebly sounds right for you, jump on its free plan and start trying it out for yourself – it's the only way to know if Weebly is your perfect builder!

Weebly Review: FAQs

In our research, Wix outperformed Weebly. It gives you more creative freedom over your site, and our users found it easier to get to grips with. Wix also has a free plan, but its price plans are more expensive than Weebly's. Overall, Wix is the better builder than Weebly – however, it's about finding the best builder for you. They both have free plans, so why not take them both for a spin?

It depends! WordPress.org is an open source platform, meaning you need to find hosting, themes, and plugins to launch your site. A lot of beginners use WordPress.org, but on the whole, Weebly is much quicker and easier to use.

If you're looking for a good balance between these two options, check out WordPress.com – it's like a website builder version of WordPress.org, where you don't need to worry about hosting and can build for free. It's amazing for creating blogs, but not as diverse as Weebly, meaning it's not so good for portfolios!

Yes! There are apps in Weebly's App Center that let you create your Weebly website in multiple languages, making it easy to offer content to visitors from all over the world.
